Crosswork issues include SQL injection, missing authentication, external file-system control and insufficiently protected credentials. Secure Workload issues include improper access control, improper authentication, command or argument injection, input-validation weaknesses and memory-buffer errors.
Cisco said it was not aware of malicious exploitation when the advisories were published. There are no workarounds. Crosswork customers must move to the listed service-pack releases, while Secure Workload customers must update the required cluster, agent and connector components.

Stack Automation by Quali Reaches General Availability Through Cisco
Stack Automation by Quali reached general availability in August as a platform co-developed with Cisco and offered through Cisco. StorageReview reported the GA milestone on August 19, describing the platform as an attempt to compress infrastructure deployment workflows that can take six to twelve weeks into a process measured in hours.
The platform converts validated architectures into executable blueprints and integrates automation assets such as Terraform, Ansible, Python, Shell and Helm. Cisco documentation describes support for lifecycle workflows spanning planning, implementation and ongoing operations, with Cisco Validated Designs embedded into the deployment process.

Miercom Validates Cisco 8000 Series Secure Routers for DIA
On August 20, Cisco published results from independent Miercom testing of the Cisco 8000 Series Secure Routers for direct internet access. The tests simulated small, medium and large enterprise branch environments while running routing and security services together.
According to the published results, the tested platforms sustained approximately 1.0 to 9.5 Gbps across the portfolio while functions including next-generation firewall, intrusion prevention, URL filtering, application control, malware protection and NAT were enabled. The Cisco 8235 Secure Router blocked 98.3% of evaluated attack strikes while maintaining about 2 Gbps of bidirectional throughput under load.
Network-Switch.com view: For branch design, the useful number is not raw interface speed but inspected throughput with the required services enabled. Real deployments should size routers around the actual security policy, encrypted traffic profile, WAN redundancy and expected growth rather than the maximum port rate alone.
Cisco-Omdia Research Flags AI Workload Placement and Network Capacity Risks
On August 18, Cisco published new research conducted with Omdia covering more than 1,200 infrastructure leaders. The study found that 94% reported some regret about their initial AI infrastructure strategy, while 96% had already adopted a hybrid approach spanning cloud, on-premises and edge infrastructure.
Cost and workload analysis emerged as recurring concerns: 34% wanted more rigorous cost analysis before deployment and 33% said they would have invested in their own infrastructure earlier. Network capacity also stood out, with 67% expecting AI traffic to push their networks to capacity limits within 12 months.
Network-Switch.com view: The data supports a practical planning rule: decide where an AI workload belongs only after evaluating latency, data sensitivity, traffic volume, optics, switching capacity and east-west versus north-south flows. Buying additional compute without validating the network can simply move the bottleneck from GPUs to the fabric.
Cisco Named a Leader in Forrester's Q3 2026 Data Center Network Evaluation
Forrester published The Forrester Wave: Data Center Network Solutions, Q3 2026 on August 19 after evaluating 11 vendors. Cisco was placed in the Leaders category for its Nexus Series switches and Nexus Dashboard portfolio.
Cisco said it received the highest possible score in 16 of 32 evaluated criteria and the highest score among evaluated vendors in the Strategy category. The company linked the result to its Nexus One architecture, which brings networking, security, observability and centralized operations into a common data center strategy.
Network-Switch.com view: Analyst recognition can help shortlist platforms, but it should not replace project-level validation. Data center selection still depends on port density, optics, fabric architecture, software licensing, operational model, interoperability and the specific mix of traditional and AI workloads.

This week's Cisco news shows infrastructure decisions converging around three questions: how securely can the platform be operated, how quickly can it be deployed, and whether the network can sustain the workload after deployment.
