Our partner is a global internet company headquartered in Europe with operations worldwide. With the rapid growth of the Southeast Asian market in recent years, the company has established a local site and data center in Mexico to cover the entire South American region.
The Huawei FHD® fiber optic cabling solution has assisted this internet company in establishing an organized and reliable 10/40G fiber optic cabling infrastructure in Mexico, enabling them to provide high-quality internet services to commercial clients in the region.
Challenges
The company's business is experiencing rapid growth and requires the capacity to handle larger amounts of user data. The existing cabling system is unable to support the network upgrade and expansion. Partners need a network with higher speeds of 10G/40G.
Limited cabling space, coupled with multiple brands and numerous management nodes in the existing cabling system, has increased the difficulty of cabling installation and management. Therefore, the solution must maximize space utilization and provide a clean cabling system to minimize company maintenance costs and time.
Due to end users' expectations of stable internet connections, the company aims to complete the upgrade within one month without disrupting business operations, posing a significant challenge to the entire project.
Solutions
Due to rapid business growth, the company's existing network is experiencing issues such as slow access speeds and high loads. An urgent upgrade and expansion of the data center network are required.
To ensure a seamless customer experience, the solution involves replacing the existing LC cabling with MTP® cabling. Using MTP® to LC conversion cassettes, 12 duplex LC cables are converted into 2 MTP® cables, allowing an upgrade from 1G/10G to 10G/40G/100G/200G without replacing existing multimode cables.
Compared to traditional LC cabling, MTP® cabling is simpler, more efficient, and saves cabling space. Its modular compatibility supports future scalability, enabling speed upgrades without disrupting business operations.
After conducting on-site investigations, it was found that the data center in Mexico faces challenges such as high operational costs and low efficiency. The data center comprises only two floors, each with a limited cabinet space of 1,500 square meters.
The existing cabling system is intricate, with network speed upgrades accomplished by adding new cabinets, leading to a continuous increase in management nodes.
To address these challenges, the new cabling system has implemented the Huawei FHD® high-density products. 2U Enclosure can accommodate 8 MTP®-LC cassettes, converting 12 duplex LC ports to 2 MTP® ports.
This solution requires only 2U of space for 192 fibers, making it particularly suitable for applications with limited space. The overall solution optimizes rack space utilization and significantly reduces operational and maintenance costs.
Our partners aimed to swiftly upgrade the fiber optic system. However, the usual process—from surveying to solution design, operational implementation, and finalization—typically takes most companies a minimum of two months.
To address this challenge, a skilled solution team conducted a site survey, promptly provided solutions and product recommendations, and initiated shipments the next day from a local warehouse to ensure project completion.
