The air-gapped appliance performs infrastructure discovery, lifecycle analysis, configuration assessment, security hardening checks and risk analysis inside the customer's own isolated environment. Cisco states that network telemetry, device configurations, operational data and assessment results remain local and that no data needs to leave the air-gapped network.

Cisco also built local AI capabilities into the appliance. Core lifecycle and assessment functions can run on CPU-only infrastructure, while organizations with GPU resources can add local AI inference. A local small language model supports functions such as AI-assisted inventory and risk analysis without relying on an external LLM API.
